Re: [cactuswings 2756] PHX/TUS hotels

As someone who is intimately involved with the Gem and Mineral show, I second Martyn's post. But if ypou are there, come by and see our booth at the 22nd street tent show. We'll have a cool new dinosaur head on display.

For our foreign members , do not book your trips for March/April into Tucson , as every single hotel room between Tus , Gyr , IGM and Las will be occupied for Spring Training Baseball. I found out the hard way in 2006 when I took a WN flight from NY to KTUS , got off the plane and wound up sleeping in my rental for 4 days , I got my first hotel on Route 66 in Kingman and that was due to a Miss out. Folks do not use Priceline.com to book rooms either as they will bump you out of your room if hotelier can get more $$$ for your room.

No I just stayed one night but used SBS. They were taking of to the east on the faraway runway so it was a perfect.

Nigel, I stayed at the Aloft Hotel PHX and it over looks Us Air terminal and you can see all arivals and departures if you have an SBS box. The Double tree suites at Tus, rooms over look cargo ramp and you can see departures on main runway.

Apologies if not suitable for the group, but I'm after info on useful hotels for overlooking PHX and TUS. Looks like the Crowne Plaza might be a good one at PHX, but are there any with views at TUS ?

Thanks
Nige
