Coyotes team scope

Arizona Coyotes defenseman Alex Goligoski will play at American Airlines Center for the first time since he was traded by the Dallas Stars to the Coyotes on June 16, 2016. Goligoski played 385 regular-season games in six seasons with the Stars. Goaltender Louis Domingue will start for the first time since sustaining a lower-body injury in a 5-2 loss at the Edmonton Oilers on Feb. 14. Domingue is 5-13-1 with a 3.29 goals-against average and .895 save percentage in 22 games. Arizona is 8-5-1 in its past 14 games, but coach Dave Tippett said he wants to see more from the Coyotes' leaders after a 6-3 loss at the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday. "We need our veterans to play a lot better," Tippett said. Arizona is playing the second of a five-game trip; the Coyotes are 8-17-4 on the road this season.

Stars team scope

The Stars are returning from their five-day break and trying to win back-to-back games after a 4-3 overtime win against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Feb. 18. Dallas is 2-7-0 in its past nine games and 10 points out of the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference. "I think you'll take the rest whenever you can get it," forward Patrick Sharp said. "But we'll see, I'll probably have a better answer for you after we see how it all plays out. It gives us an opportunity to gear up for the final six weeks of the season, so that could be an advantage." The Stars juggled their power-play units during the morning skate Friday. Defenseman Esa Lindell was working the point on the first power-play unit, and John Klingberg was on the second unit. "I think we're going to try and have two good units," coach Lindy Ruff said. "Split that time up. Make the units provide more energy in a shorter period of time. Short term, we're going to give that a try." Goaltender Kari Lehtonen will make his third straight start after making 34 saves against Tampa Bay.
