Red Wings team scope

The Detroit Red Wings are looking to end a five-game road losing streak (0-4-1) and win for the second time in eight games overall (1-5-1). The power play is 1-for-15 over that stretch and failed on its only chance in a 3-1 loss against the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday. Detroit likely will miss the Stanley Cup Playoffs after making it for 25 consecutive seasons. "We still got games left, this is our job," captain Henrik Zetterberg said after the loss to Colorado. "We have to go out and perform and do our best every night and try to get better every day. We have [another] game so it's back to work." Goalie Petr Mrazek will be start after Jimmy Howard lost on Wednesday. Mrazek is 2-0-0 with a 1.47 goals-against average and a .942 save percentage against Arizona. Mitch Callahan is expected to play on the fourth line, likely in place of Drew Miller. Detroit has scored one goal in each of its past two games. "I certainly saw some chances (against Colorado)," coach Jeff Blashill said. "I thought we passed up some shots and I thought we didn't hit the net when we had opportunities to. We still got to do a better job of having a 'shoot-first' mentality and we need more guys to score that aren't on Zetterberg's line. Other guys have to produce a little more."

Coyotes team scope

The Coyotes are seeking their first four-game winning streak of the season following one-goal wins against the New Jersey Devils (5-4 on Saturday), Colorado Avalanche (1-0 on Monday) and Los Angeles Kings (3-2 on Tuesday in an 11-round shootout). Goaltender Mike Smith will start after Louis Domingue made 44 saves against the Kings. A victory would give Smith 127 wins with the Coyotes, one behind Bob Essensa for second place and three behind Ilya Bryzgalov for first on the all-time wins list for Arizona. Max Domi had two goals against the Kings. "He's really playing at that high level we're used to," coach Dave Tippett said. "He had a slow start and then he had the injury (broken hand), but now he's back to where he's around the puck and you notice him even if he's not scoring." Forward Teemu Pulkkinen, who scored in his only game with the Coyotes on March 2 against the Buffalo Sabres, will be in the lineup against the team that selected him in the fourth round (No. 111) of the 2010 NHL Draft. "He's worked hard, he's fit in with the group well and he's excited to play against his old team," Tippett said.
