Re: [cactuswings 2807] LOG - Dallas & Phoenix Area (January 2013)

Tobias,
IWA is the actual airport code, but AZA is used by the airlines.  MD80 N305FA is a Falcon Air used for the DOJ.  The mysterious white C130 is probably International Air Response's N119TG.  The Safi Airways at GYR is YA-TTC.  Our full GYR log is here: http://www.visitingphx.com/gyrdata.html

Regards,
Mike

Just a few minutes here…

I had more time on this visit but the logs here get monotonous...

Air Canada express E75  CFFYG
Qantas             744  VHOEE
United             320  N492UA  #4292

…also note that American A321s seem to be following a non-standard pattern for fleet numbers.

Not much noted on a Monday morning.

Alaska Horizon  DH4  N441QX  UAF c/s
Hawaiian        332  __83HA

…plus another Hawaiian A330 - it seems that the 767s are gone from their Seattle operation.

A dawn visit to Gateway nabbed the airplanes that I'd targeted - the new Intel ERJ shuttles.  Below is a complete log minus the six Allegiant MD-80s.  For the last time, is it IWA or AZA?1!!

Allegiant       319  N301NV
Allegiant       319  N302NV
Allegiant       319  N310NV  white than usual tail c/s
                ERJ  N286CH
                ERJ  N286DP
M80  N305FA  blue wave across fuselage

…plus that mysterious white C-130.

It was early and the pickings were slim.  The E concourse is under renovation and Spirit and many/most US Airways departures currently operate from the little island terminal accessed via an underground tunnel, the former home of Delta Connection.

American          319  N9015D  Sharklets prototype, now in service
Delta Connection  CR9  N294PQ  #15294
Spirit            319  N523NK  "Spirit of Tampa", old c/s

Again, a very quick visit!  The international visitors are always the most interesting but the Mexicans (Volaris and Aeromexico Connect) are elusive!  This time of year Canadians dominate.

US Airways        321  N154UW

Westjet           73H          #819

There seemed to be more aircraft here than I ever remember seeing, and a number of aircraft had been moved around on the field.  A full log follows, not every aircraft was in the full colors of the noted operator.  Also, with spring training about to start in earnest, we're just about at the end of the time when you can discreetly wander through the Indians/Reds practice facility to get a closer look at the stored narrowbodies.  Just sayin'!!!

A convenient stop at Scottsdale between appointments netted three commercial grade aircraft.  The (very) nearby Phoenix Open no doubt increased the number of jets here but not by as much as I might have expected.  As I've noted before, the radio piped into the terminal waiting area is a lovely touch by the way.

Desert Splash         CNA  N1229X  on floats
                      ERJ  N580ML
                      FRJ  N57TT   excellent!

Another convenient stop, on the way to Sky Harbor and in the darkness, generated a hit.  This is the third E170 airframe that I've seen at the Honeywell facility, conveniently located near the main road.

                      E70  N170EH  Cirrus tail c/s

Late night is great for international departures, especially this time of year.  PHX's Mexican visitors eluded me again….

Westjet             73G         #232
Westjet             73G         #246
