Season series: Max Domi had a goal and an assist to lead the Arizona Coyotes to a 4-1 win against the Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center on Oct. 9.

Coyotes team scope: Arizona is in the midst of a stretch that features six of seven games on the road. The Coyotes will play their second game in as many nights following a 4-3 overtime win at the Anaheim Ducks on Monday. Mike Smith will likely get the start in goal after Anders Lindback made 33 saves in Anaheim on Monday. Smith allowed three goals on 17 shots in his most recent start, a 4-1 loss at home against the New York Rangers on Saturday.

Kings team scope: Los Angeles forward Jeff Carter left practice early Monday, but coach Darryl Sutter told LA Kings Insider it was because of a pre-arranged appointment and not anything injury-related. Carter leads the Kings with 15 points (seven goals, eight assists). He has five points in the past three games. "He's a guy that plays with a lot of speed and you could tell that he's using it and he's using it to his advantage," forward Milan Lucic said of Carter, according to the Los Angeles Times. "He's feeling it out there. It's great to see him kind of take it over and lead the team in the right direction, turning around after the 0-3 start. He's one of those guys that wants to score and wants to be a part of contributing to a team's success, and that's what you want out of your big guys and your leaders." Tuesday marks the third of a five-game homestand for the Kings, who split the first two games.
