DUCKS (8-10-4) at COYOTES (10-9-1)

TV: PRIME, FS-SD, FS-A+

Season series: The Arizona Coyotes will try for their third victory in as many games against the Anaheim Ducks this season, largely because of two rookie forwards. Anthony Duclair had a hat trick in Arizona's 4-0 at Anaheim on Oct. 14. Max Domi, who scored the other goal in that game, had two in a 4-3 overtime win on Nov. 9. Mikkel Boedker scored the OT winner.

Ducks team scope: Anaheim will try to build on its come-from-behind 5-3 victory against the Calgary Flames at Honda Center on Tuesday. The Ducks trailed 2-0 before the game was 11 minutes old, but Ryan Getzlaf had his first five-point night in more than seven years, assisting on two goals each by Corey Perry and Rickard Rakell before setting up Ryan Kesler's empty-netter. "We didn't quit. We just kept coming. We didn't shrug our shoulders and feel bad for ourselves," coach Bruce Boudreau said. It was easily Getzlaf's best game of the season. "When he plays like that, he's unstoppable," Boudreau said. With Frederik Andersen sidelined by flu-like symptoms and Anton Khudobin allowing two goals on five shots, John Gibson stepped in and made 19 saves to get the win after being recalled from San Diego of the American Hockey League earlier in the day. Boudreau said Andersen won't make the trip to Arizona but didn't say who would play.

Coyotes team scope: Goalie Mike Smith (lower body), who didn't dress Saturday in a 3-2 loss at the Winnipeg Jets, will be available to play, general manager Don Maloney told azcentral.com on Tuesday. So will defenseman Nicklas Grossman, who's missed seven games with a lower-body injury. The Coyotes returned goaltender Louis Domingue and defenseman Philip Samuelsson to Springfield of the American Hockey League on Tuesday and recalled forward Dustin Jeffrey. "Just got to the point where I didn't think it'd be valuable if I played," Smith said. "I didn't want to push it and make it a lot worse. It was just something that we knew the schedule and just decided to give it a rest and see how it responded, and the rest obviously helped."
