Coyotes team scope

Arizona Coyotes goalie Louis Domingue is expected to make his sixth consecutive start. The Coyotes, who lost 5-1 to the Anaheim Ducks on Friday, recalled defenseman Anthony DeAngelo and center Tyler Gaudet from Tucson of the American Hockey League on Monday, and both will be in the lineup. DeAngelo, 21, will make his NHL debut while paired with Alex Goligoski. DeAngelo was the Tampa Bay Lightning's first-round pick (No. 19) in the 2014 NHL Draft. The Coyotes acquired him for a 2016 second-round selection on June 25. "He's an exciting player," coach Dave Tippett said of DeAngelo, who had one goal and six assists in eight games with Tucson. "He moves the puck well and I think he can really help our power play. We'll see what he's got tonight, but he's a good, young exciting prospect." The Coyotes are 1-for-23 on power plays in their past nine games. Gaudet, 23, will center the fourth line with Lawson Crouse and Ryan White. Forward Tobias Rieder (lower body) is probable. "We'll take it right to warmup, but it looks like he's going to be fine," Tippett said. Rieder is expected to skate with Shane Doan and Brad Richardson. Doan needs three goals for 400 in his NHL career.

Avalanche team scope

Goalie Calvin Pickard will start when the Colorado Avalanche begin a four-game homestand following a 5-1 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Sunday. Pickard made 32 saves in the Avalanche's 1-0 win against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday, and is 3-0-0 with a 1.50 goals-against average and .946 save percentage. Pickard made 24 saves in a 3-2 road win against Arizona on Oct. 29. Colorado has six goals in the past six games, and three came against the Coyotes. "We've had a ton of chances, a lot of good ones every game and we just have to start finishing," said forward Nathan MacKinnon, who has gone 10 games without a goal since the opener against the Dallas Stars. "It's going to come. We've run into some really good goaltenders. Hopefully our luck will change and we'll get a couple lucky ones tonight." The Avalanche have killed 27 of 30 penalties in their past eight games, but they're 3-for-32 on the power play in their past nine. "We have a handful of guys, you could call them snake bit, frustrated offensively," coach Jared Bednar said. "If you look at the scoring chances, we should have a few more goals than we do. Goal scorers go through streaks where they score goals in bunches and sometimes they cool off a little bit. Once guys score a goal or two, I think things will open up for them."
