Arizona Coyotes president and CEO Ahron Cohen and general manager John Chayka will donate 20 percent of their respective salaries over the coming months to aid the Arizona Coronavirus Relief Fund and other non-profit organizations working to combat the impact of the coronavirus on Arizona.
The fund was created to provide financial support to organizations working to mitigate the pandemic.
"Arizona has been our team's home for nearly 25 years and this community has rallied around the Coyotes in good times and bad," Cohen said. "In a moment of such critical need, my wife Dana and I feel compelled to do what we can as a family to help our Arizona family. As a business leader, a husband, a father and an Arizonan, I see this as our privilege and responsibility to help support the people of this great state. I know we will make it through this challenge as a result of all of us Arizonans rallying together."
The fund will initially focus on personal protective equipment for frontline medical personnel, provide resources to nonprofits that support those in need through food banks, homeless shelters, domestic violence facilities and other services, and efforts to provide low-income students with technology enabling them to transition to online learning.
"Kathryn and I could not be more grateful to the healthcare workers, doctors, nurses, EMTs, and grocery store and food service workers who every day sacrifice so much so their neighbors can stay healthy and safe," Chayka said. "Now more than ever, we want to do everything we can to support this great state that has given us so much.
"Both Ahron and I are doing this on behalf of our entire Coyotes organization and following the example set by Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo and his family in supporting Gila River Arena workers during this challenging time."
