{coyotes} Report: Toews wants Doan on Blackhawks

onathan Toews wants Shane Doan to join the Chicago Blackhawks.

Toews is putting forth his best salesman routine to reruit Doan, according to reports out of Chicago.

Doan, the 35-year-old Coyotes captain, has expressed frustration with the tumultuous financial situation in Phoenix, and will test the free agent market on July 1 and consider his options.

"Their hands are so tied with the whole stumbling block that keeps popping up with the team, and that is frustrating," Doan said on an Arizona Sports 620 broadcast. "I've really enjoyed my time here, and like it here, and this is where my family is from.

"But at the same time, it's such a unique and difficult situation."

Doan is coming off of a strong season where he led the Coyotes to the Western Conference final where they fell to the eventual champion Los Angeles Kings. In the regular season he posted 50 points (22 goals, 28 assists) to bring his career points total to 788 (318 goals, 470 assists).

Toews is likely the first of many suitors for Doan, as a number of NHL teams could be interested in his size and toughness up the middle of the ice.
