November Meeting is Important

The November meeting is scheduled to be in the small conference room.
If the large conference room is available, we may simple move over
early. Starting in January we will be meeting in the big conference room.

As many people are aware, Orion resigned as the President of the Club.
He will be at the meeting to answer questions and plans to remain on as
a member of the club.

Orion's two year term ends in January of 2014. According to the club
constitution and bylaws, it is the responsibility of the board to
appoint a new President until the end of president's term, which has one
year remaining.

Dennis and I have agreed that I will resign as VP and move up to the
office of President unless another member with an Extra class license
wants the job (hint hint). If you are an extra and want to be
president, please email me at n1lqj@cox.net as soon as possible!

We are taking nominations for the three board members for January's
election. These positions are for two years or until the person
resigns. Board members are required to hold a General Class amateur
radio license. If not enough general's are interested I'll reduce this
requirement by executive order to allow Technicians to run for the board
for this 2 year term. The elected board will then choose the Vice
President from amongst themselves in February.

I encourage all members to log into the website and check their
membership before January if they wish to vote or run for office. If
they are expired, please email me at n1lqj@cox.net and I will fix them.

Now, for the meeting agenda, I had planned on teaching about an oil can
200W 50 ohm dummy load for 10 dollars and how to build it. I still plan
to teach this class at the November meeting. To get a ballot you must
be a registered club member with a ham license and living full time in
Arizona or have been a member prior to January 2011.

Please review the attached documents to better understand the club
offices and their roles to one another. This is a critical adjustment
period for the club. Elections are coming up, the existing officers are
tired and some of us have been doing this since we were elected in
November 2009.

The club now has 35 members of which 27 are voting members.

The breakout is as follows:

8 Extra or Advanced Class Licensees
12 General Class Licensees
11 Technician class licensees

Attached is a copy of the election process flow chart, the legislative
flow chart the board follows and the club's constitution and bylaws if
anyone has any questions about the various offices within the club.

One other topic to be discussed is dues and club insurance. The website
is free, but the domain is 10$ a year. The PO box is 52$ a year and
liability insurance is 320$ a year for a total of 382$ a year.
Currently dues are suspended an the club is being funded by private
donations by it's members. If we wish to keep it that way we will need
to raise the 382$ in private donations.
