Panthers team scope

Florida Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo, who has a 2.24 goals against average and three shutouts in 30 career games against the Arizona Coyotes, will try for his 450th career win. Defenseman Keith Yandle will play in his 600th consecutive game Monday, a streak that began Mar. 26, 2009 when he was with the Coyotes. "We really missed him in our locker room after he left," Arizona Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. "He's not only a good player but a great personality, a guy committed to helping the team who also keeps your locker room lively." The Panthers have lost three straight games (0-2-1) but have points in five of their past seven road games (4-2-1). They are three points behind the Philadelphia Flyers for the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Jaromir Jagr has four points in the past five games and is three points away from 1,900 in his NHL career. "He makes me feel old because I was on his line for a while," Tippett, a teammate of Jagr's with the Pittsburgh Penguins more than 20 years ago (1992-93) said. "His passion and his skill set is what still sets him apart." The Panthers have never won a game in regulation at Gila River Arena, where the Coyotes are 5-0-2. Florida's last road win in Arizona in regulation was Dec. 8, 1999, a 6-1 win at America West Arena.

Coyotes team scope

The Coyotes tied a season high with five goals in a 5-3 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday and go for their fourth win in the past five home games. Arizona has three wins in its past 16 games (3-12-1) and all of them have come at home. The line of Tobias Rieder, Martin Hanzal and Radim Vrbata had 10 points in the win. "We're confident coming off a good game," said Rieder, who tied a career high with three points. "We have to keep doing the little things right. Our line was buzzing from the get-go and we got a couple of good bounces go our way." Rookie forward Lawson Crouse, who Arizona acquired in a trade with Florida on Aug. 25, will play against his former organization for the first time. "I'd say it's been marked on the calendar for a long time," Crouse said. "That trade caught me a little by surprise, but I'm here now and loving it, so hopefully we put together a great game and show them what we've got." Goalie Mike Smith will start after making 45 saves against the Lightning. Smith is 5-0-2 in seven games where he has made 40 or more saves this season.
