Season series: The Arizona Coyotes are 3-0-0 against the Anaheim Ducks, outscoring them 12-5. Coyotes rookie Anthony Duclair has five goals, including a hat trick in a 4-0 win on Oct. 14. Max Domi has three goals and six points. Defenseman Sami Vatanen has two goals and four points for the Ducks; Center Ryan Kesler has two goals and three points.
Coyotes team scope: Arizona lost 5-4 in overtime to the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday. It was their third straight loss; The Coyotes are one point behind the Ducks for third place in the Pacific Division and an automatic Stanley Cup Playoffs berth, and have played two more games. "We need to get that second point and we didn't," captain Shane Doan said. "It's big getting one, but we've got to find ways to get that second one right now because everything is so tight. Two points are important." Coach Dave Tippett said he wasn't sure if Louis Domingue or Anders Lindback would start in goal. Domingue, who started Thursday, has allowed five goals in three straight games; he has started the past seven games, and 15 of the past 16.
Ducks team scope: This is the Ducks' last home game before a seven-game, 18-day road trip. The Ducks won their season-high fifth straight game on Thursday, 4-1 at the Los Angeles Kings. "We are focusing on [Friday], that is a big one for us before we head out on the road," captain Ryan Getzlaf told NBCSN. "We want to finish this thing off right and then go take care of business on the road." The Ducks have scored 20 goals in five games, an average of four per game; they had averaged a League-low 2.1 entering play Thursday. "We are just trying to do the same things that got us here and put the puck in the net and it seems to be working right now," Getzlaf said. Coach Bruce Boudreau didn't say if John Gibson, who made 23 saves Thursday, or Frederik Andersen would start in goal.
