Season series: The Boston Bruins defeated the Arizona Coyotes both times they played last season. Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask allowed three goals in the two victories. The Bruins have won the past four games against the Coyotes, dating to 2011.

Bruins team scope: Boston lost 7-4 to the San Jose Sharks on Thursday, their third straight loss during their four-game road trip. The Bruins have not lost four straight games since April 2013. "We wanted to come out with at least a .500 record [on the road trip] and now it's not happening, so we will try to gain some of the confidence back and get the win in Arizona," Rask told the Bruins website after the loss Thursday. The game against the Sharks was the first time in their past 11 games that the Bruins scored more than three goals in regulation. They are 4-6-1 in that span and 5-7-0 on the road this season.

Coyotes team scope: This is the second game of a five-game homestand for Arizona. The Coyotes were shut out by the Los Angeles Kings 4-0 on Thursday, their sixth straight defeat (0-4-2) at Gila River Arena. Their last home win was 3-2 against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Nov. 4. Arizona made several roster moves Friday. Forward Jordan Martinhook and defenseman Andrew Campbell were recalled from the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League, and defenseman David Schlemko was sent to the Pirates. Arizona also acquired defenseman Philip Samuelsson from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for forward Rob Klinkhammer and a conditional pick in the 2016 NHL Draft. Forward David Moss (upper body) and defenseman Brandon Gormley (lower body) are on injured reserve. Defenseman Connor Murphy (upper body) is questionable.
