Season series: Goalie Devan Dubnyk won his first game with the Arizona Coyotes, 3-2 in overtime against the Los Angeles Kings on Oct. 11; it was the second game of the season for each. Los Angeles led 2-0 but Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored with 14 seconds to go to win it. Arizona defenseman Keith Yandle had three assists.

Kings team scope: Los Angeles' past two wins (in five games) have been by shutout, the latest 2-0 against the Boston Bruins on Tuesday. The Kings start a five-game Eastern road trip after a home game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday. Forward Marian Gaborik (upper body) did not travel for this one. "It should be pretty soon that I can go out there and play," he told LA Kings Insider. Forward Anze Kopitar had two assists Tuesday to end a five-game scoring drought; eight of his 12 points this season have come in four games.

Coyotes team scope: Arizona starts a three-game homestand having lost four of five and six of eight. The Coyotes play seven of their next 10 at home, where they are 4-5-2. "It's up to us to see if we can make something happen here so yes, absolutely, this is a very important time for us," general manager Don Maloney told Arizona Sports 98.7 FM on Wednesday, according to the Coyotes website. They did not practice Wednesday, so it was unknown if defenseman Connor Murphy (upper body) will return after missing a 5-2 loss at the Calgary Flames on Tuesday.
