Season series: Elias Lindholm scored two goals and Cam Ward stopped all 25 shots he faced in the Carolina Hurricanes' victory against the Arizona Coyotes on Nov. 1 at PNC Arena.

Hurricanes team scope: One day after letting a two-goal lead slip away in the third period of a 5-4 overtime loss to the Anaheim Ducks, coach Bill Peters emphasized his players' work ethic following practice. Slumping forwards Jeff Skinner and Riley Nash in particular were in Peters' crosshairs; the coach hinted each might be scratched against the Coyotes. "He's an offensive player who needs to provide offense. You've got to provide that primary dimension as an athlete, doing what you're paid to do. And if you're not doing that, you've got to have a B-game," Peters said of Skinner on Wednesday. "Right now, his B-game is not good enough to make up for the lack of offense." Ward did not skate with the team for the second straight day; according to Peters, he's nursing a "little tweak in the lower body."

Coyotes team scope: The Coyotes had the day off Wednesday after returning home from a season-long eight-game road trip. Arizona went 3-3-2 on the trip, which ended on a high note; the three wins came in the final four games, including a 4-1 victory against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday. "Anytime you're at the end of a long road trip like this you've got to find ways to dig deep," said Coyotes defenseman Keith Yandle, who had two assists. "I thought we did."
