Native Apache's protesting at Oak Flats

Ok everyone, I have learned that the local Apache Tribe is protesting up there.  Apparently they have been up there for a few weeks now and it's unknown when they will be departing.

The word from the Ranger Station is that the Campground is packed at times, especially on the weekends.

Our club, being an Amateur Radio Club, isn't going to get involved with the protest.  Yes some of us agree with it, some don't, and but we all agree that they have the Constitutional right to protest as they see fit.

So we have several choices to make.  We can go up early Friday and see if we can get a spot....or we can try to move to Lake Roosevelt?  Or we can find another campground.  This being said, most of the campgrounds require the Tonto Pass, $6 per vehicle and must be purchased in town at a gas station or another place that sells them.

I would like to hear some input before Thursday if possible.  We try to camp out since we tend to get more people involved that way.  However, this might be a time where we might have to find a park and just go there instead.

So what are all of your thoughts?  I have Friday off and am planning on being up there prior to noon if possible.  So I can go scout it out and then come back into town to let everyone know, but this means that everyone will have to pay attention to Facebook and email.

Or we can change the plans now so that everyone knows.  What do you all think?
