COYOTES (6-8-1) at FLAMES (9-6-2)

TV: FS-A, SNF

Season series: The Arizona Coyotes won three of five last season, though the Calgary Flames won the two games played at Scotiabank Saddledome. Shane Doan and Rob Klinkhammer led the Coyotes with three goals apiece, and Mike Smith won two of his three starts.

Coyotes team scope: Coach Dave Tippett made some line changes Wednesday at practice, according to the Arizona Republic. Tippett moved center Sam Gagner to a line with Tobias Rieder at left wing and Doan at right wing. Previously, Antoine Vermette had centered that line. Vermette moved to Gagner's line with left wing Lauri Korpikoski and right wing Mikkel Boedker. Rob Klinkhammer took the place of left wing Brandon McMillan on a line with center Martin Hanzal and right wing Martin Erat. Tippett also said he might use some new personnel on the power play. The Coyotes were 0-for-6 in a 4-3 loss to the Dallas Stars on Tuesday and now stand at 0-for-18 in their past four games. They've failed to score a power-play goal in five of their past six games.

Flames team scope: Jonas Hiller will start in goal, coach Bob Hartley announced Wednesday. Hiller has played in seven straight games, helping the Flames gain nine of a possible 14 points. He has a 2.44 goals-against average and .907 save percentage during that span. Hartley also said right wing Brian McGrattan and left wing Sven Baertschi would play and left wing Brandon Bollig and right wing Devin Setoguchi will be scratches. McGrattan has been scratched in 10 of the past 11 games and Baertschi was scratched for the first time this season on Monday in a 4-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. This is the first game of a five-game homestand for Calgary following a five-game road trip, which the Flames finished with a 3-2-0 record. The Flames have scored a power-play goal in five straight games in which they have had more than one opportunity. Calgary has killed nine of its past 11 man-down situations (81.8 percent), better than its season average of 76.6 percent (26th in the NHL). Defenseman Mark Giordano has points in seven straight games (four goals, eight assists) and leads all NHL defensemen in points with 19. He was named the NHL's First Star of the Week for the week ending Nov. 9.
