Season series: Filip Forsberg scored two of the Nashville Predators' four third-period goals in a 5-2 victory against the Arizona Coyotes at Bridgestone Arena on Dec. 1. Mike Ribeiro had a goal and an assist for Nashville, which outshot Arizona 41-15. Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Kyle Chipchura scored for the Coyotes.
Predators team scope: Backup goaltender Carter Hutton could start after Pekka Rinne allowed four goals on 26 shots Friday in a 5-3 loss at the Colorado Avalanche. Center Ryan Johansen scored a power-play goal, had an assist on Forsberg's goal and was plus-2 in his first game with the Predators, who are playing the second of a four-game road trip. "He was really good," coach Peter Laviolette said. "I thought he had a solid game, [James] Neal was good, he was good. Filip was good when he went up on that line."
Coyotes team scope: Arizona didn't practice Friday after arriving home early in the morning following a 2-0-1 road trip that ended with a 2-1 victory at the Calgary Flames on Thursday. Rookie goalie Louis Domingue, who's 5-0-2 in seven starts after making 25 saves to get the win in Calgary, is expected to play in the opener of a seven-game homestand. Win or lose, the Coyotes will reach the midpoint of the season in second place in the Pacific Division, and Domingue's play after starting goaltender Mike Smith was injured last month is a big reason. "He's given the team a chance to win in all of his starts and he doesn't seem to get ruffled when the puck gets behind him," general manager Don Maloney told the Coyotes website. "He's really come in and grabbed hold of the No. 1 job and run with it." Beginning Saturday, Arizona plays 14 of its next 18 games at Gila River Arena, where the Coyotes are 10-6-2.
