Red Wings team scope: It's the finale of a six-game road trip for Detroit, which won the first four before a 4-2 loss at the Los Angeles Kings on Monday. The Red Wings dressed seven defensemen in the loss, but coach Jeff Blashill said after practice Wednesday that he will go back to six against the Coyotes. That means Alexey Marchenko will be a healthy scratch. "I'd say certainly not because of his play, all seven played good enough to stay in," Blashill told the Red Wings website. "One has to come out. We looked at numbers of factors. We certainly feel comfortable putting Alexey in, and that might be the case the next game. This isn't long-term, this is a day-to-day decision right now. The partners is one thing. We've liked some of the different partners. We just decided that this is the six that give us the best chance to win tomorrow night." Goalie Petr Mrazek will start.

Coyotes team scope: Arizona will play the third of a seven-game homestand; the Coyotes were victorious in the first two and enter with a four-game win streak. Defenseman Kevin Connauton was claimed off waivers from the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday and is expected to participate in the morning skate Thursday. "It's awesome," Connauton told the Coyotes website. "The Coyotes are a good, young team and they've had a lot of success this year. I'm really excited that they've shown belief in me and that they're willing to give me an opportunity. Now it's up to me to prove them right." Goalie Louis Domingue is expected to start.
