COYOTES (3-2-1) at RANGERS (4-2-1)

TV: FS-A, MSG

Season series: The New York Rangers defeated the Arizona Coyotes twice in a span of 13 days last season. Forward Chris Kreider scored three goals, two in a 4-3 win Feb. 26 at Madison Square Garden in their most recent game. Three days later the Rangers acquired defenseman Keith Yandle from the Coyotes for a package including forward Anthony Duclair.

Coyotes team scope: Duclair's five goals led NHL rookies entering games Wednesday; he scored his fifth of the season on the power play Tuesday in a 3-2 overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils. His seven points had him in a tie with teammate Max Domi and Artemi Panarin of the Chicago Blackhawks for the rookie lead. Arizona looks to snap a 0-2-1 skid since winning its first three games and shuffled its lines at practice Wednesday. Martin Hanzal centered a line with Duclair and Domi, while Antoine Vermette skated between Mikkel Boedker and captain Shane Doan. General manager Don Maloney said forward Joe Vitale, who was injured in a fight in his only game of the season, Oct. 17 against the Boston Bruins, sustained a broken orbital bone and is out 4-6 weeks.

Rangers team scope: Yandle, who has two goals and 15 points in 28 regular-season games since the trade, was reserved Wednesday when talking about facing his former team. "You're all in for the team that you're with," Yandle told BlueshirtsUnited.com. "The first phone call that I got, [former general manager] Glen [Sather] welcoming me to the Rangers, you're all in to be a Ranger. You try not to leave anything in the past; you just move forward. For me it's just helping my team here and helping us win." Center Derek Stepan wasn't at practice Wednesday because he was having a wisdom tooth extracted; coach Alain Vigneault said Stepan should be fine to play Thursday. Forward Oscar Lindberg, whose four goals are one behind Duclair for the rookie lead, was a second-round pick (No. 57) of the Coyotes in the 2010 NHL Draft. Forward Tanner Glass was assigned to Hartford of the American Hockey League after clearing waivers.
