Season series: Patrice Bergeron scored two third-period goals to help the Boston Bruins defeat the Arizona Coyotes 5-3 at Gila River Arena on Oct. 17. Bergeron also had an assist. Arizona captain Shane Doan had a goal and two assists.

Coyotes team scope: Arizona has won two of four (2-1-1) on its five-game road trip, including a 4-3 victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday. "I thought our forwards did a good job below their hash marks and I thought our defense did another real good job around our net," coach Dave Tippett said. "That has been a strength of ours this year, our defense battling around our net, and they did a great job tonight." Backup goalie Anders Lindback, who made 35 saves in a 4-1 win against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, could get the start after Mike Smith made 24 saves against Toronto. Forward Max Domi's 10 points (four goals) lead NHL rookies.

Bruins team scope: It's unclear who will start in goal, Tuukka Rask, who is 1-3-1 with a 4.40 goals-against average and .854 save percentage, or Jonas Gustavsson, who made 23 saves in a 5-3 win at the New York Islanders on Friday. "He's got two games and two wins," center David Krejci said of Gustavsson, according to Comcast SportsNet New England. "I thought he did a very good job of keeping us in the game in the first period [against the Islanders] when it easily could have been more than 2-1. He's playing well, you know? He's competing hard in practices. It's good to have two very good goaltenders." Gustavsson, who played the past three seasons with the Detroit Red Wings before making the Bruins roster on a tryout, has a 2.50 GAA and .896 save percentage. Boston will look to get its first win at TD Garden this season; it has lost four straight at home (0-3-1). "I think we've had some rough outings here," coach Claude Julien told the Bruins website after practice Monday. "I think our puck management has cost us a lot of games when you look at the goals that were scored against us here in our home building, so we've got to clean that up." Forward Matt Beleskey, who missed the game Friday because of an undisclosed injury, might return to the lineup.
